Quality & compliance
Quality in tea is decided on the bench and proven in the laboratory. We do both, and we test to the rules of the country your tea is going to.
Our tasters assess dry leaf, infused leaf and liquor for appearance, colour, strength, briskness and taint. Lots that do not meet the standard are rejected, however good the price.
Rules on pesticide residues and contaminants differ by country. The EU, UK and Japan are among the strictest in the world; the Gulf, Central Asia and Africa each have their own. We agree the test panel with you before shipment and test through independent laboratories.
Multi-residue screen against the destination's maximum residue limits
Tested separately; a common cause of EU and UK rejections
Lead, cadmium, arsenic, mercury
Aflatoxins and ochratoxin A where required
Yeast and mould, E. coli, Salmonella, total plate count
Moisture, total ash, water extract, crude fibre, foreign matter (to ISO 3720 / FSSAI parameters)
Panels and laboratories are agreed per order. Certificates of analysis are issued per shipment.
